With Halloween just around the corner, we would like to remind everyone to stay safe when they’re out and about Trick-or-Treating.
But Halloween’s greatest hazards aren’t vampires and villains. What you really need to be on the lookout for are falls, costume mishaps and traffic accidents. Here are a few Safety Tips from our friends at the American Red Cross:
If you’re planning on being a Ghost of Goblin…
Look for flame-resistant costumes
Plan the Trick-or-Treat route and make sure adults know where children are going
Make sure Trick-or-Treaters have a flashlight
Add reflective tape to Trick-or-Treat bags
Only visit homes that have a porch light on
Walk only on the sidewalks, not in the street
Be cautious of pets and any other animals
If you’re welcoming Ghosts & Goblins…
Sweep leaves from the sidewalks and steps
Clear the porch or front yard of any obstacles that a child could trip on
Restrain any household pets
Use a glow stick instead of a candle in the jack-o-lantern to avoid a fire hazard
Have Fun & Stay Safe!
